Sun Kissed Collection uses Gold Filled Pieces!
Why do we use Gold Filled vs Gold Plated?
Many jewelry pieces you find at boutiques, chain stores, and local malls sell gold plated jewelry. Unfortunately, this type of manufacturing is the least durable and cheapest to make. Gold plated jewelry is a very thin (practically immeasurable) layer of gold that is chemically deposited/coated around a base metal (like brass, copper, or nickel) and gold content is less than 0.1% by weight. It is not recommended that you get gold-plated jewelry wet, sleep with it, or use any chemicals to clean it. If you do, these pieces will tarnish quickly and therefore, we do NOT use nor recommend gold plated jewelry for timeless pieces.

Gold filled jewelry is made of several layers of solid gold that is mechanically bonded to a base metal. These layers of solid gold are over 100x thicker than gold plated and consists of at least 5% real gold by weight! Due to this superior form of manufacturing, our gold filled pieces are more durable and will outlast any gold plated pieces. We recommend caring for gold filled jewelry similar to any fine jewelry and it will last a lifetime.
